What is coaching?

How does coaching work?

Sometimes we all get stuck in our own heads and can’t seem to make progress on a goal, whether it’s losing weight, setting up a business or just finding a better work/life balance.  Coaching uses powerful questioning and other tools to get you from where you are now to where you want to be, more quickly than if you were working on your own.

What will I have to do?

I usually coach over the phone or Skype and each session will be around 45mins to 1 hour.  We arrange a convenient time for you to call and off we go.  (Face-to-face sessions can be arranged if preferred).

How many sessions will I need?

I ask for clients to commit to a minimum of 3 months and 6 hours of coaching in order to make real progress on what they want to achieve.   The coaching can be for 6 x 1 hour sessions or 12 x 30 minute sessions, depending on the goal and the client’s requirements.

What does the coach do?

The coach works with you to clarify your goal and come up with realistic steps to achieve it.  They will sometimes challenge you but are always on your side, cheering you on to reach your goals.

Is Coaching a type of therapy?

We may look at elements from your past that are holding you back from achieving your goals but a coach is not a therapist or a mentor. The focus of the sessions will be the future and how to move towards the future you want.

Through this distinct focus on them and their situation, the person being coached gains increased clarity regarding a situation or topic, which enables them to make progress in some way….
